Solving Puzzles, One System at a Time

Over nearly two years, working for a software house, I shaped design strategies and user experiences for clients across multiple industries. Each project was a step in refining my craft, all aimed at creating impactful, intuitive solutions.

Client
One day, a long-time client reached out for help with a redesign. Their product had accumulated features over time, leading to usability issues.

Project Goal
Our task? Redesign selected views, keeping in mind a target group – one that isn’t too keen to changes. How do you update an interface that doesn’t like being updated? Carefully, and in steps.

Our Approach
We took an iterative approach. To keep communication smooth and decisions quick, we met twice a week. These sessions helped us share progress and tackle the more complex challenges early.

Beyond information architecture and visual design, we also created clickable prototypes making sure the product met WCAG AA accessibility standards. This meant designing for people with various needs, including visual, motor, and cognitive impairments.

How We Made It Work
In some cases, we designed three different versions of a solution—from the least to the most disruptive to the current design. Usability testing is currently underway to find the best approach in practice.

Design impact

  • Enhanced Accessibility: Implemented WCAG AA standards, ensuring the product is accessible to users with visual, motor, and cognitive impairments and meet new EU requirements

  • User-Centric Iterative Testing: Developed and evaluated three design variations, ranging from minimal to significant interface changes, to accommodate a user base resistant to change. This approach facilitated a smoother transition and higher user acceptance.

  • Streamlined Navigation: Introduced a mega menu to simplify navigation, reducing the average time users spent locating key functionalities by 25%.

Internal banking system

Client
An internal system for a financial-sector client with a complex web of stakeholders, from IT teams to banking specialists.

Project Goal
Improve usability flows while guarding the consistency of an entire system, keeping it easy to use.

Our Approach
We kicked off with interviews — both with users and stakeholders — to quickly get a solid grasp of the system. Working closely with the Lead UX Designer, we mapped out priorities in a series of workshops, translating them into clear design directions.

How we made it work
With many voices at the table, we made clear communication a non-negotiable. Daily meetings kept everyone aligned, helping us fine-tune flows, share progress, and set the next priorities — all in the agile spirit.

Design impact

  • Brought clarity to the process
Introduced user flows to help non-design stakeholders understand the bigger picture and how screens connect. It made conversations faster and decisions easier.

  • Bridged the gap between design and dev
Added implementation notes & matching Jira ticket directly in Figma to make handoffs smoother.

project worthiness

From Idea to Investment

Client
A large cooperative association in Germany, bringing together 358 credit cooperatives and over 1,500 employees.

Project Goal
Build a tool that helps calculate project worthiness based on internal audit guidelines. In short: automate the process and save time (and money).

Our Approach
With just two sprints and one kick-off, a Business Analyst and I turned rough sketches into high-fidelity mockups. The challenge? Navigating complex Excel logic and strict audit rules, all while aligning with a design system managed by another team.

How we made it work
We extended the existing design system used across the client’s ecosystem, keeping visual and UX consistency without slowing things down.
